The Sorensen Sibling Trio Taking Over Formula Drift Atlanta—Making History

Formula Drift • Round 2 • Road to the Championship • Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

(5/11/2025) – The U.S. Air Force-backed Sorensen trio hit the track together for the first time in the 2025 Formula Drift season at Road Atlanta. Camren Sorensen officially became the youngest licensed Formula Drift driver in history at only 13-years-old, where he even managed to win the Seeding Bracket. Branden Sorensen continued his strong championship run in the Pro class with another Top 8 finish, currently tied for 3rd in points. Amanda Sorensen continued to improve, laying down some of her best practice runs, showing she is here to battle for the 2025 season.

Starting the weekend off on Thursday in Pro Spec, Camren Sorensen battled his way to the top of the Seeding Bracket. He made history by becoming the youngest Formula Drift driver ever, additionally winning a battle, and even a seeding bracket.

He carried that momentum into competition on Friday by defeating Dustin Miles in the Top 32. Their initial battle resulted in a unanimous OMT, but when mechanical issues ended Miles’ night, Camren advanced via a bye run. Camren currently sits 6th in points — just 1 point outside the top 5 and 28 points behind the overall leader.

“Overall it was a really fun event. I finally made it to the big leagues and actually placed well for my first time,” Camren Sorensen said.

Amanda Sorensen also took to the Pro Spec grid in Atlanta, where she faced Collin Zielinski in the Top 32. Despite a strong showing, Amanda was eliminated in her first battle of the event. With her next round being the track she became the first female to ever podium in Formula Drift, Amanda is looking to bounce back in New Jersey.

Following the weekend, Amanda said “I am quite happy with how the weekend went. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the results I had hoped for, but we learned a lot and the new team is adapting well. We are all hard at work and will be ready to fight to depend on my podium last year in New Jersey.”

In the Pro bracket on Saturday, Branden once again advanced deep into competition. He defeated Tommy Lemaire in the Top 32, then battled his way past Rome Charpentier in the Top 16. In the Great 8, he faced off against fellow top contender Odi Bakchis. After a close battle, Branden was narrowly eliminated. Despite the loss, he now sits tied for 3rd in the championship standings with Bakchis — both drivers sitting at 50 points, just 40 points behind the tie for 1st place between James Deane and Fredric Aasbo.

“I really don’t know what I did to cause me to lose in Top 8, but there is nothing I can do about it now but look ahead and focus on the next one. Orlando is an exciting track and was my first FD podium last year and I am looking to back that up again this year,” said Branden.

All three Sorensen siblings showed strong pace and professionalism at one of the series’ most technical and high-speed courses. With solid team execution and growing momentum, the Sorensens look ahead to their next rounds with high expectations.

Branden will return to the track at Formula Drift Round 3: Scorched, taking place May 30–31 at Orlando Speed World in Florida. Amanda and Camren will next compete in Formula Drift Round 4: The Gauntlet in Englishtown, New Jersey, on June 19–21.
